Can you please tell us about yourself?

I am Oluwatosin Godswill Abasiubong, a wife to an exceptional gentleman, mother of two gorgeous princesses, a mentor, life coach, teacher, serial entrepreneur, kingdom financier and a chronic Jesus addict. I am the Chief Executive Officer of Maigrow Nature’s Beauty Product, Foodalicious Global Concept and founder of Heart Whispers, a full-fledged charity organization and NGO. All based in Kaduna State. Maigrow Nature’s Beauty Products are in various brands, they are in Maigrow Hair Food, Maigrow Conditioning Cream, Maigrow Hot Oil Treatment, and Maigrow Henna Mix.

When and what inspired you to establish your hair beauty company? 

The journey is not far but believe me it has been historic, it started on 14^th of January, 2014 when I stumbled on a post on Facebook about a lady in a group that I belonged to asking for remedy for her daughter’s hair loss. I replied by recommending a mixture I had used on my daughters’ hair for about a year plus, when they had terrible hair loss.

 This is the story of how Maigrow metamorphosed, when I moved to Kaduna in 2012 (after such a hard time, contemplating whether to move or not as hubby was transferred), I employed a house keeper who could hardly understand English language at the time but somehow, I was patient because I needed to learn Hausa and she needed to learn English language, so I chose to be really patient and not grumpy or frustrated with the communication issues. So when I decided to cut my girls’ hair, she asked that I shouldn’t that she would bring something for me to use on their hair and of a truth, she did bring some cow oil that smells so badly! She insisted this would work and explained that that’s what Fulani’s use for their long natural hair, so to encourage her, I applied it on my girls’ hair but they could not stand the horrible smell and they quickly rushed to wash it off!  So, I preserved the remaining cow oil in my refrigerator.

Not long after the incidence above, I started losing my front hairlines and I made up my mind to experiment the cow oil that my Fulani house keeper gave me but this time around, I added coconut oil to reduce the horrible smell. I started using it, then I applied it on my girls’ hair. And shortly, I began to notice remarkable changes in two weeks of using it…our hair had grown and became fuller. I intensified the usage and lo and behold, my girls’ hair was restored fully, mine followed. Then my hubby, who had a bald head joined and in two weeks, his hair grew to all our amazement and by the fifth week, hubby has had a teeny weeny afro!

Back to the lady on Facebook who wanted remedy for her hair loss, I responded, she used it and it worked out remarkably well. Later other people started sending inbox messages to me on remedy to hair issues but I had no huge financial capital except N2000. So I made up my mind and gave my house keeper to go and buy more of the stuff for me and we mixed it with coconut oil and made 10 jars which we later sold for N2000 naira each. We made N20, 000 naira from that transaction but every time I went online on Facebook, people kept demanding for this product and like they say, the rest is history, Maigrow Nature’s Beauty Products started from that initiative! By 14^th of February, exactly 4 weeks after the first sales, we had made a N100, 000 in profit.
